Objective: Asystemized approach tosubjective cognitive complaints (SCCs) in elderly people isneeded owing tothehighprevalence ofsuchcomplaints andtheir impact onthepsychosocial well‐being ofthose affected. Theaimofthisstudy was tocarry outasystematic review ofthecharacteristics andeffectiveness ofintervention programmes thatuseaneuropsychological approach totarget SCCs in cognitively unimpaired older people andthataretested inrandomized controlled trials. Methods: Thesearch included atime‐unlimited query ofScopus, PsycInfo and Medline, yielding 215articles, ofwhich only7mettheinclusion/exclusion criteria. Results: Thenumber ofintervention programmes was very limited (11interventions), butdiverse, with cognitive stimulation, physical exercise, psychoeducation andcognitive restructuring allused toaddress SCCs. Conclusions: Interventions including onlycognitive stimulation were noteffective in reducing SCCs, butinterventions including cognitive stimulation andpsychoeducation, physical exercise, andgroup sessions anddiscussions reinforced bythe therapist were effective.
